How to choose the right Bed Wetting Alarm
Choosing the right alarm to help your child achieve dry nights can be difficult. Below we go through some of the things to consider when deciding on an alarm to purchase for your child. If you still have further questions relating to your child’s situation, feel free to get in touch. With over 30 years experience we are more than willing to offer you advice on the best alarm for your situation.
It is important that you choose the right alarm for your child and you. There is a multitude of brands and types available and without the appropriate advice in selecting the right alarm, the treatment of your child may be delayed or take longer than expected. Our main advice is to choose the right alarm to suit your child and purchase an alarm from a reputable seller who can be guaranteed sound advice before purchase and throughout the treatment process.
Wired or Wireless?
The DRI Sleeper Excel.
The DRI Sleeper Excel alarm has a Urosensor attached to a lead which plugs into the alarm. The Urosensor is flexible and conductive on both sides. The alarm is worn on the shoulder attached to the child's pyjamas, then placed inside the underwear. The DRI Sleeper Excel also has a volume control.
We generally recommend the excel for the young child from 4-5 years of age possibly up to 7-8 years depending on the child. Normally we do not recommend the Excel if the child is inclined to be restless during sleep as the lead can be dislodged which may switch the alarm off.
The DRI Sleeper Eclipse.
This model is suitable for all ages. The DRI Sleeper Eclipse features a two-part system consisting of an alarm base, which is placed on the bedside table, and the Urosensor which is placed in the underwear. The small, Urosensor has no wires and is made of a conductive plastic, making it great for sensitive skin. Like the Excel, the Eclipse has adjustable volume. Unlike the Excel though, the wireless features of the Eclipse allow it to be used with more than one alarm. This is helpful so that parents can also have an alarm in their bedroom. Without any wires to get tangled or dislodged, this alarm is suitable for restless sleepers and may be more discrete for older children.
